How Internet Computer Game Fi Brings Ownership to the Player
The new emerging world of blockchain has a massive need for Games to be built on the blockchain. With NFT’s as playable characters as well as weapons and in game items sold as NFT’s as well it brings ownership into the hands of the player. In traditional gaming if you purchase in game items, you cannot resell them at a later time if you no longer need them. So all the money you put into a game is lost as soon as you buy it. You can only use the item and not sell or trade it. With NFT’s as these items you will be able to use them and if you upgrade or get new weapons you can sell your old items as NFT’s on a marketplace and that way you keep all of the value of the items you purchase.
With the Supernova hackathon being such a success and bringing in over 3700 people with almost 400 projects. Alot of those building games on the blockchain while receiving funding if they placed in the top 5. There are several games I am so excited to see in their full potential. 1st I really love Icbirds as they have 2 different games you can play with your playable NFT characters in both. The 1st place winner of Game Fi in the Supernova hackathon was Cubetopia, which is basically minecraft on the Internet Computer. 2nd Place was one of my favorites called Eimolad which has weapons adn playable characters you can purchase as NFT’s. So this one is one that intrigues me.
The next biggest wave in Gaming is not only bringing ownership to players but also bringing the brightest most dedicated developers from all over the world to build games on the Internet Computer. With several different blockchains all with their own hackathons going on, ICP’s Supernova brought in more than 4x the amount of developers as the next chains hackathon which was Dot. It had about 8 or 900 developers and the IC had over 3700. The best marketplace to use is definitely Entropot for NFT’s from your favorite Internet Computer Games built at Internet Speed and actually scalable. So the next generation of Developers are Flocking to The Internet Computer to build and scale their video games for everyone to use and enjoy.
The best thing for game developers building on traditional gaming systems is for them to take a look at building that same game but on the blockchain. If you do decide to build on a blockchain the Internet Computer is the most beneficial place to make your game. They have a ton of developer grants as well as the Supernova hackathon event that just happened that gave and will give over $6 million in seed funding, prize money and grants to the winners of the hackathon. Who know they might have another hackathon in the near future and give more developers the chance to have their dreams come true and build their games on the blockchain and see it grow to scale at the speed of a web 2 game. So this is the future of gaming and Virtual reality and Augmented reality on the Blockchain, but only one that can scale at a good cost!
